The Sankofa Chicago screening kit offers an easy-to-use platform that educates, engages, and empowers audiences to explore the impact of Black history, systemic racism, and the importance of historical representation. Through powerful storytelling, the film fosters meaningful conversations that inspire learning and community action.

  • What types of screenings do you offer?
    We offer two main license types: Educational Screenings: For classrooms, libraries, or campus events with fewer than 50 attendees and no admission fees. Community Screenings: For public events, nonprofits, or any screening with 50+ attendees or ticket sales. We also offer individual viewing licenses for personal use.   • What’s included in a screening license?
    Your screening license includes: An HD digital file of Sankofa Chicago or Sankofa Chicago: The Untold A Public Performance License Agreement (PPR) Access to educational resources, including a discussion guide and marketing materials Optional event promotion on our website and social channels
  • What is a Digital Site License (DSL)?
    A DSL allows schools, libraries, or institutions to host the film on their own server and stream it internally. It can be purchased separately or with a DVD.
  • What are my format options?
    You can choose the screening type that works best for your audience: In-Person: HD file delivered 5–7 days before your event Virtual: Password-protected link sent 36 hours before the event Hybrid: Combine both for greater accessibility. Let us know what you need!
  • How do I choose the right license?
    Educational License: Under 50 attendees, no admission charged Community License: 50+ attendees or if admission is charged Not sure? Select “Not sure” on the form — we’ll guide you.
  • Can I add a Q&A or panel discussion?
    Yes! You can request: A Director Q&A (virtual or in-person) A Panel Discussion Custom learning materials for your group These are optional add-ons. Fees may apply.
  • How do I estimate audience size?
    Just give us your best estimate when you fill out the request form. If your attendance ends up higher than expected, you can upgrade your license afterward.
  • How do I get started?
    Fill out the Request Form We’ll respond in 1–2 business days with a quote You’ll receive your license, film file, and resources Promote and host your event!
